DETAILED SITE INSPECTION OBSERVATIONS
There was a lot more equipment and containers on the pit floor compared
to the last inspection. There were also motor oil spots (old) that were
noticeable in the staging area on pit floor. There were some containers that
did not have labels. Majority of them were trash cans and a couple of large
GENERAL COMPLIANCE
plastic fluid containers. There was a container on the large yellow trailer
that was dripping down into a bucket that was on top of a 55 gallon drum.
The drum was unmarked and the bucket did not seem to be effective due
to the oil being all over the bucket and the top of the 55 gallon drum.
Maintenance of the stormwater management structures is the only site
SITE DEVELOPMENT
development.
Mining in an eastward direction. Planning to mine eastward to create
benches to fix the current slope failure. After mining within 200 feet of the
OPERATIONAL PHASE
eastern boundary, the mining will move northward avoiding disturbance in
alkali gulch.
A slope at the staging area has had topsoil and rock covering but has not
N
been seeded yet. This removed the majority of the white face and now
Z
g
blends with surrounding brown topography. A portion of white still shows
RECLAMATION STATUS
in this area facing southeast and a few white stockpiles exist on this flat. .
O
(TOPSOIL, ROADS, ETC.)
Overall the site is less visible from the road and seeding in the future will
a
further minimize visual contrast. No area of the site is near final
greclamation.
U
W
The stormwater ponds seem to be holding and operating effectively. The
UJ
road is designed with a berm or small ridge on one side and a ditch on the
z
other. There are now delineators along the road from the staging area to
the pit. Most of this sediment is still being trapped in sediment ponds,
however, no sediment traps exist south of the staging area. The sediment
ponds and ditches are cleaned regularly. No breaching was observed in
these ponds. This is all part of.the stormwater management plan and is
EROSION/ SEDIMENTATION
being maintained and monitored in compliance with this plan. The pit floor
slopes into the working face to create a catchment area for stormwater.
The water caught in this catchment area does not drain anywhere and it
evaporates from there. Final reclamation plans will follow the same suit
and a pond will be constructed on the pit floor. Final benches will be
designed to also slope into the face and engineered to catch water and
direct it off the edges to the pit floor.
No explosives are stored on site.
EXPLOSIVES
No problems with safety were noted at the time of the inspection.
SAFETY
ENGINEERING/ GEOLOGIC & STABILITY
The slopes and site appear stable for the given material. .
CONDITIONS
DRMS sign was posted and the operation appeared to be in compliance
OTHER LOCAL/ STATE/ FEDERAL REQ. &
with all other state and federal regulations.
COMPLIANCE
