6.4.4 Exhibit D — Mining Plan
7. The Applicant has stated the permit boundary will be marked. Please note that Rule
3.1.12(2)(b) requires the Operator to delineate the boundary of the affected area, which
would be 210 acres of the total 271.61 acres permitted at the Ralston Quarry.
For the purposes of this application, the affected area and the permit area are the same. While
Asphalt Paving Co. may not disturb all of the permit area during operations, it reserves the right
to disturb anywhere within the permit area as needed. The DRMS bond will reflect this.
8. The Applicant has stated that concrete and asphalt may be recycled through the on-
site plants. Please clarify if all of the recycled material will leave the site as product or if
some will remain on -site to be used as backfill material.
All recycled asphalt and concrete will be used in the production of construction materials that are
then used off site. No recycled asphalt or concrete will be used as backfill.
9. The Mining Plan calls for maintaining a vertical distance of no less than 40 ft.
between the pit floor and the Denver Water Tunnel. Please specify the horizontal distance
between the Denver Water Tunnel and the open pit to the south of the tunnel.
Map C -4 has been revised to show that mining will stay at least 40' away from the water tunnel
both horizontally and vertically.
10. The Applicant has stated that security fencing and wildlife fencing will be installed
upon the completion of the reservoir. The cost for installing fencing must be included in the
bond calculation. Please provide the following additional information regarding the
fencing:
a) Type(s) of fencing to be installed, e.g. chainlink, three strand, etc.
b) Dimensions for each type of fencing (length and height).
Asphalt Paving Co. will install a four -strand barbed wire fence on the three sides adjacent to the
City of Denver property: northwest, north, and east. A six foot chain link fence will be installed
on the South side, and a portion of the south end of the west side. The cost of said fencing has
been determined based on a contractor quote. Please see the revised Exhibit L.
11. The Mining Plan map illustrates the contact zone between the basalt and the
underlying shale. Please specify if shale will be exposed along any point of the western
quarry wall.
Generally the mining avoids exposing the shale. However, the shale contact is irregular in
isolated areas where mining does expose the shale from time to time.
