Compliance With Mine Plan <br />N - Support Facilities Not On -site <br />N - Other <br />N - Special Categories Of Mining <br />N - Processing Waste <br />N - Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This inspection represents a partial coal inspection conducted by Jason Musick of DRMS at the Bowie No. 1 <br />Mine. Marcia Talvitie of the Division accompanied the inspection. The weather was clear and the ground was dry <br />at the time of the inspection. No mine related activities were on -going during the inspection. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); <br />Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />No active backfilling and grading is occurring at the site. The East Mine and Timber Storage Area reclaimed <br />slopes were stable with no evidence of instability or damage. <br />The West Mine backfilling was with no evidence of instability or erosional features noted. <br />FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18: <br />Heavy deer and elk evidence of activity was observed on the East Mine with approximately 10 deer observed on <br />the reclaimed slope near the portal. This area serves as mule deer winter range and no mine related disruptions <br />were occurnng. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />The highway coal storage area pond was dry. The embankments were stable and well vegetated. The primary <br />discharge and emergency spillway were stable with no problems noted. <br />Ponds 2 and 3 were dry and ponds 1, 4, W -1, W -2, the Timber Storage Area Pond and the West Ridge Pond were <br />all dry.
