Site 09
This site was a result of erosion along an old road. The erosion created a small head -cut that had
eroded soil and sediment exposing some buried PVC pipes. The soils that had been eroded from
this ditch area were replaced with sediments collected downslope using a Bobcat with a bucket.
The fill material was packed with the equipment and then reseeded. The soil and seed were then
raked and tamped. Small diameter woody stems were placed about 10 feet apart on the contour
of the slope for the length of this area in an attempt to slow any water flow across this area. In
addition, a water bar was placed at the upper end of this ditch to reduce water flow at this
location until the area is revegetated.
This work was completed on November 1 and November 19, 2014. The seed mix was applied to
the areas that were refilled and to the area where the sediment was excavated to fill the gully.
This gully area was about 500 ft2 in size. The approved seed mix used can be seen in Table 2.
A
rwwr..
. 4r.- r+►•. µ -., mow. - ...
181
Figure 10a and 10b. The left photograph shows the upper end of the erosion gully where the
PVC pipes were exposed. These areas were refilled and reseeded; the completed task is viewed
in the right photograph.
11
