Exhibit D — Mine Plan
14. Overburden and reject materials encountered will be used for backfilling previously
mined areas, or where necessary, will be stockpiled separately from the soils in a manner that
will return these materials to the excavated areas in advance of resoiling. In this way the
overburden and waste materials will be placed at the furthest distance possible from the resoiled
surface, thereby limiting their influence on revegetation activities.
15. All earth moving operations will utilize earth - moving equipment, including (but not
limited to): scrapers, front -end loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, haulers, and other equipment of
various makes, sizes, and capacities.
16. Excavation will follow the clay deposits. Extraction will advance through the mine phase
until that clay deposit is depleted. In Phase III the south half of the mine will be mined first from
west to east. Once mining is complete in the south half, the clay stockpile pad will be moved to
the south half of the mine and mining in the north half will commence from west to east. In
Phase IV, excavation will begin in the eastern portion of the phase and progress east and north.
east. In the ease of Phase V, err.&vatien v411 inifially renieve the elay depesit undeflying Phases 1 and
11, and PFOgr-ess to the The clays are stockpiled on -site. As needed, the clay is blended and
hauled to the brick plant.
17. As excavation progresses final slopes will be graded concurrently with excavation.
Finished slopes will not exceed 3h: Iv. A diversion will be created above the finished slopes to
route upslope surface drainage to an established drainage way. This will aid in reducing rilling
and gullying of finished slopes until the vegetation can complete slope stability. Other
stabilization methods are detailed under Exhibit I — Soils Information.
18. Existing draws will be minimally affected by excavation activities, and only where
needed for access. Access will cross draws at limited locations, in order to prevent an area wide
disturbance to the draw. All other mine related activities will maintain a 50 foot vegetated buffer
from the bank full stage of the draws. These precautions will better assure the stability of the
affected areas and adjacent lands during and subsequent to mine related activities. Phased
excavation and concurrent reclamation will also aid in this concern.
19. Specific reclamation methodologies and strategies are detailed under Exhibit E —
Reclamation Plan.
