The mine site is a reclaimed surface
mine.minimal activity occurs on the site during the winter months. The weather was warm and sunny with snow
melting at the time of the inspection. The snowpack is thin, with south facing slopes often bare of snow. Snow
depth was only up to the bottom wire on a four wire fence, so approximately 12 -18 inches.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
A lone porcupine was observed meandering near drainage 006 -NE2. Several coyotes were heard yipping
in Hubberson Gulch and on the ridgeline, though the coyotes were not seen. Numerous animal tracks were noted
throughout the accessible areas of the mine.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring
4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones
4.05.18:
Access throughout the site was limited by unplowed roadways and warm temperatures resulting in soft
muddy roads. Only the main access road and access road A to the shop, and access to the oil well are plowed.
Pond 006 was accessible. Pond 006 was discharging. Snow mobile tracks were visible to the discharge pipe
indicating that SCC has been conducting water sampling. There is vegetation in the flume, making the reading
on the staff gauge inaccurate. The flow on the gauge read >0.1, but level may have been affected by ice and
vegetation in the flume. The spring at the base of Pond 006 embankment was flowing & freezing. Resulting in an
icy sheet, below the embankment.
006 drainages were visible, though snow covered. No significant concerns could be noted through the snow.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 4
