Louis Head
Page 2
February 3, 2015
Weed control through 2013 comprised bi- weekly inspections for the presence of noxious
weeds, including Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense) and Houndstongue (Cynoglossum
officinale).
Control of weeds was achieved by hand spraying infestations with Tordon. This is the
product name of a herbicide produced by Dow Chemical, the active ingredient of which
is Picloram. It is an appropriate choice to treat the species mentioned, although should
not be used near or under trees where soils have rapid permeability or where the water
level is high, due to its relatively high persistence and mobility.
Rill and gully inspections were completed at the same time as the weed inspections.
None were identified.
We anticipate receipt of the 2014 ARR within the next couple of weeks; please include reference
to any vegetation sampling, rill or gully repair, or seeding augmentation that was conducted.
Please also ensure that the acreage values are corrected (there is no need to re- submit the 2013
ARR).
Sincerely,
Leigh Simmons
Environmental Protection Specialist
