Susan Burgmaier -2- January 28, 2014
(SAE), indicates a watershed size of 1.1 acres for the cover pile area that does not drain to Pond
J. Revised designs for Clean Water Diversion, on page Volume XI App B -72 do not appear to
account for the additional area draining to the lower segment (0.16% section) of the East Clean
Water Diversion ditch. Please revise the designs for the lower segment of the East Clean
Water Diversion ditch to include the runoff from the cover pile stockpile SAE area.
BRL: Flow from the coverfill stockpile SAE will be routed to the 1.0% section of the Clean Water
Ditch. Please see revised pages Volume XI, App. B -2 and 78 & 78i
Since the flow from the coverfill stockpiles will not flow into the clean water ditch, no revision to
the design is necessary.
22.
Issue resolved
23.
Issue resolved
24.
Issue resolved
25. Issue resolved
26. BRL indicates that page Exh 8 -32 has been revised to include flow from Ditch C -25 in the
Culvert C -2 calculation. Revised page Exh 8 -32 lists the flow from Ditch C -25 as 0.14 cfs. The
Sedcad output shown on page Exh 8- 74viii(c) has a value of 0.16 cfs for Ditch C -25. Please
revise the culvert design on page Exh 8 -32 so that the flow value for Ditch C -25 is
consistent with the value on page Exh 8- 74viii(c). Please also revise Culvert C -2 (page 8-
321) and Ditch C -2 since they will be subsequently affected by changes in flow volume
through Culvert C -2.
BRL: Please see revised page Exh. 8 -32 (Culvert C2), page Exh. 8 -60 (Ditch C2) and page
Exh. 8 -31 showing the revised flow values.
27. Issue resolved
Miscellaneous Items:
BRL: During an on -site inspection January 26, it was determined that the flow from Culvert C -3
does not outlet into Ditch C3, rather, outlets into Ditch C4. A revision to pages Exh. 8 -61 & 62
have been made to reflect on the ground conditions. Page Exh. 8 -29 has been revised to
update the flow for Ditch C3 and C4, and remove to the riprap specification for Ditch C -3.
A culvert outlet at curve #6 was discovered. According to Bill Bear and Jim Stover, this culvert
was installed when the mine was constructed, but crushed nearly immediately upon installation.
Therefore, no inlet was discovered, however, it is now shown on applicable maps since there is
