Compliance With Mine Plan-Support Facilities Not On-site <br />NAY <br />-Other-Special Categories Of Mining <br />NAY <br />-Processing Waste-Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />A complete inspection of the Carbon Junction Mine was conducted by Marcia Talvitie, Dan <br />Hernandez (Senior Environmental Protection Specialist), and Tabetha Lynch of the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.Skies were overcast, but the <br />temperatures (for January) were unseasonably warm, reaching into the low 50s. The area <br />received several inches of wet snow approximately two weeks prior to the inspection, and site <br />conditions ranged from snow-covered to muddy. <br />PERMITTING UPDATE: <br />PR-01 <br />Post Mining Land Use and Final Reclamation –The Division issued a preliminary <br />adequacy review on Dec. 8, 2014. Savage and Savage, Inc. has communicated that the response <br />package is nearly complete. The current Decision Date is Feb. 16, 2015. An extension of that <br />deadline may be necessary in order to complete the review process. <br />AHR <br />The 2014 Annual Hydrology Report, which is due on Feb. 15 of each year, was submitted <br />on Jan. 21, 2015. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS –Rule 4.02: <br />A mine identification sign (4.02.2) was posted at the entrance to the permit area. <br />Perimeter markers (4.02.3) were observed where the Ewing Mesa Pit No. 1 (M-1992-116) <br />abuts the Carbon Junction Mine permit area. <br />ROADS –Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3);Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4);Surfacing and Maintenance <br />4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6);Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />The permanent road providing access to the former North Pit was repaired (Photo 1) <br />following the significant precipitation events of September 2014. Large water bars were <br />installed across half the road’s width to direct flow toward the roadside ditch.
