It appears that there is a zone of some gold in the gravel from the surface to a depth of approxi-
mately 20 -30 feet, followed by a barren gravel zone of 30-40 feet followed by a zone of up to 25
feet that contains a higher percentage of gold. The barren zone will be used to backfill previous pits
and the other material will be sent to the plant for processing. Some of the washed gravel will also
be used for backfilling and other material may be further crushed and screened for gravel product
sale.
Once the initial pits have been excavated, barren material and washed gravel will be used to'back-
fill previous pits. The maximum amount of pit that requires backfilling will be limited to 20,000
cubic yards.
The pre-2012 highwall of approximately 60 feet height which was located at the south end of the
infiltration pond became the settling pond for the processing plant and the highwall was filled in
from the ongoing processing and has now been reclaimed as of the end of 2014.
Section 5.0 Topsoil Removal and Stockpiling
Much of the site was disturbed over a century ago and no topsoil was salvaged from this operation.
Since the operation was permitted in 1984, two main topsoil piles have been created.
Greg Lewicki, P.E. conducted an inspection on October 1, 2014 with a handheld Garmin GPS
which reported an accuracy of 11 -16 feet on site. Over 200 points were taken of the perimeter of
the topsoil stockpiles as well as the perimeter of the disturbance. These points were later trans-
ferred to the registered cad map in the State Plane coordinate system and were found to be suffi-
ciently accurate to make topsoil quantity estimates. The attached Topsoil Inventory Table was de-
veloped by Greg Lewicki to evaluate the topsoil amounts in each of 6 areas where topsoil is
available on site. The areas were measured in cad after adding the gps points. The heights of the
piles were measured with a tape and the average heights were estimated. There are 5 stockpile lo-
cations on site and one area that has not yet been stripped (Area 3). This area was spot checked
Gloria Z Mine TR -03 2015 14
