On Monday Jan 27, 1 drove through the intersection of 8th St and Balsam Ave in Greeley and noted that
there was more water in the dewatering channel than I typically see and that the water was ponding on
the N side of 8th St. On the south side of 8th St, some of the water was backing up the road ditch, but
most was heading east and dumping into the Ogilvy ditch at approx 528282E,4475027N. This is
upstream of the Ogilvy chart house.
drove to the Ogilvy chart house and was able to measure the flow of water in the Ogilvy ditch at 6.92
cfs. Given that this is January the ditch is not diverting water; however there is typically 2 -3 cfs of seep in
the ditch during the winter months. Based on this, I assessed that at least 4 cfs from the dewatering
channel of the Loloff Pit is being discharged into the Ogilvy ditch. This fits with my visual estimate of the
flow of water in the dewatering channel. See attached photos.
contacted Luis on Tuesday January 27 and informed him that I would be providing this information to
those in the Denver office who deal with gravel pit SWSP renewals and request that this report be placed
into the SWSP records for this pit. I am also passing this information along to the Groundwater
Commissioner who will pass this along to DRMS.
Luis (970- 371 -2575)
cc: Luis Iuis32062 @yahoo.com
Justin Bieri, Groundwater commissioner, justin.bieri @state.co.us
Tracy Kosloff, Team 1 Denver office, tracy.kosloff @state.co.us
Mark Simpson, District 3 Water Commissioner, mark.simpson @state.co.us
Jean Lever
Deputy WC, District 3
(970) 381 -3449
Jean.lever @state.co.us
