January 22, 2015 C- 1994- 082/Yoast Mine JHB
Pond 14's embankment. No problems were identified with these two ponds based on the aerial photos
Drainages YPM -12, YPM -12A, YPM -14, YPM -18 and YPM -19 were snow covered but visible through the
snow. A bare spot was visible just north of YPM -18 that maybe indicative of a slump or a gully forming. This
spot should be located in the spring once the snow is off and evaluated. (photo 8007).
YPM -4 west of the Pond 13 Slide appears intact through the snow.
Drainages YPM -7 and YPM -8 were snow covered but visible. No concerns were noted with these two drainages.
YPM -3 -2 and YPM -3 -2A appeared intact through the snow cover.
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)
Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The mine site is snow covered. It appears that access to the site is limited to snow - machine or by foot.
The access road from RCR #27 is not plowed. Tracks visible along this road appear to be from a snow machine.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The North pit reclamation appears windblown with thinner snow cover than observed in the south and
western portions of the mine. There are some bare features on the north side of the YPM -10 drainage that should
be looked at once the snow is off to identify why these locations are bare of snow.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
No new areas of instability were noted in the aerial photos. Comparison of photos of the Pond 13 Slide
from one year ago, 1/22/2014, and the most recent photo taken 1/22/2015, sees no measurable difference in the
size or shape of the slide.
TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06
Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4:
Reclaimed topsoil pile L was visible. No problems or concerns were identified with this recently regraded
topsoil footprint. Snow machine tracks were visible along the north side of this stockpile area.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 6
