• 5.0 RECLAMATION
•
•
Reclamation for the coal mine waste bank is planned to start during operations at the
completion of the pile to the first bench at El. 6,035 it. At this time, the slope is planned to
be covered with about 4 feet of suitable material and revegetated. The cover will consist of
the best available non-toxic and non-combustible materials, as required by Rule 4.10.4(5).
The cover material will be top dressed with topsoil and revegetated. This will improve runoff
and erosion conditions, and will remove materials from the topsoil and cover fill stockpile.
Final reclamation extends to the final pile height and will include the recontouring and
vegetation of all haul roads. The disturbed area will be returned as close as possible to its
original state considering vegetative growth and hydrology.
For the purposes of this report, it is assumed that about 6-inches of topsoil will be stripped
from the waste bank site and stockpiled for reclamation. One excavation was conducted in
the area of the waste bank indicating approximately 27-inches of suitable topsoil. Other areas
of site have been noted as containing no suitable topsoil. Neither of these observations are
representative of the entire site, thus 6-inches was used for material balance and planning
purposes. During construction, all available topsoil will be stripped and stored in the topsoil
stockpile. If the maximum volume of this stockpile is met, material will be stored in one of
the other three topsoil stockpiles at the mine. Cover fill will be placed in a thickness of about
3.5 feet to meet the required approximate 4 feet of Cover material over the coal mine waste
bank.
96266/1424.RPT Coal Mine Wasle Bank Final Design for the Bowie No. 2 Mine
June 1996 WESTEC
24
1U1~VV,~CY-al
