The substratum is very gravelly or very cobbly outwash. The
underlying bedrock is sandstone.
4.3 Subsurface
The borings typically encountered very stiff to hard lean clay with variable sand content to
depths of about 2 to 34 feet below the existing site grades, underlain by cobbles and
boulders with a clayey sand and gravel matrix. The approximate depth to the cobble and
boulder layer is summarized in the following table.
TABLE 1
APPROXIMATE DEPTH TO COBBLE AND BOULDER LAYER
Approximate Depth to Cobble Approximate Elevation of
Boring No and Boulder Layer Clay/Cobble and Boulder Contact
B-1 9 feet 6282
B-2 2 feet 6285
B-3 8 feet 6298
B-4 4 feet 6306
B-5 16 feet 6329
B-6 34 feet 6285
B-7 10%2 feet 6271.5
B-8A 19 feet 6269
B-8B 16 feet 6262
B-9 8%2 feet 6269.5
B-10 5 feet 6265
B-11 9 feet 6288
B-12 11 feet 6359
B-13 12 feet 6276
B-14 5 feet 6245
4
