value of 732.5 woody stems per acre surpassed the required 90 stems per acre in the
"background" reclamation area. PSC measured 2703.3 stems per acre in concentrated
shrub areas within BRB in 2011. The concentrated shrub areas comprised 229.2 acres, or
22.3% of the BRB acreage. Woody stem density did not achieve sample adequacy in the
concentrated shrub areas in 2012, but PSC collected a minimum of 50 transects, and
conducted a reverse -null calculation to validate the 2011 concentrated shrub success.
The Division fmds the data and calculations acceptable, and fmds the woody stem density
establishment successful for 2011 in the BRB.
Species Diversity
PSC uses four different tests to determine species diversity success. The first test A, is
mandatory, and requires that no single plant species may exceed 60% relative cover.
Two of the remaining tests, B, C, or D must be met to achieve diversity success. For
2010 vegetation data the BRB was successful for tests A, C, and D. The Division finds
the 2010 data successful for species diversity. The 2011 vegetation data for the BRB was
successful for tests A, C, and D. The Division finds the 2011 data successful for species
diversity.
