Allowable annual herbaceous production for the 2010 BRB was 1973.5 pounds /acre.
Allowable annual 2010 herbaceous production for the Mountain Brush reference area
was 483.6 pounds /acre and 874.3 pounds /acre for the Sagebrush reference area.
Calculation of weighted average standard for 2010 equals 495.2 pounds /acre. Allowable
annual herbaceous production on the reclaimed BRB exceeded the reference area
standard almost four -fold. The allowable annual herbaceous production for the BRB was
successful for 2010. Although, sample adequacy was not achieved on the BRB in 2010,
the reverse null calculation also confirms that the BRB allowable annual herbaceous
production was successful for 2010.
Allowable annual herbaceous production for the 2011 BRB was 2815.8 pounds /acre.
Allowable annual 2011 herbaceous production for the Mountain Brush reference area
was 835.1 pounds /acre and 1234.8 pounds /acre for the Sagebrush reference area.
Calculation of weighted average standard for 2011 equals 812.73 pounds /acre.
Allowable annual herbaceous production on the reclaimed BRB exceeded the reference
area standard more than three -fold. The allowable annual herbaceous production for the
BRB was successful for 2011. Although, sample adequacy was not achieved on the BRB
in 2011, the reverse null calculation also confirms that the BRB allowable annual
herbaceous production was successful for 2011.
Woody Plant Density
Reclamation success for the establishment of woody plant species will be successful for
the PSCM when two criteria are met. The first criterion for determination of woody plant
success requires 90% of a minimum of 200 stems per acre in the total BRB, or
background area. The second criterion requires that at least 5% of the BRB contain a
concentration of 90% of 2000 stems per acre. PSC identified "concentrated" shrub areas
using aerial photography collected in 2009. Reclaimed area within the BRB, but outside
of the concentrated shrub areas was considered "background".
BRB 2010 woody stem density sampling in background areas resulted in 805.3 stems per
acre. Woody stem density did not achieve sample adequacy in 2010, but PSCM collected
a minimum of 30 sample transects. PSC provided reverse -null demonstration to validate
that the sample value 805.3 woody stems per acre surpassed the required 90 stems per
acre in the background reclamation area in accordance with Rule 415.11(2)(c). PSCM
measured 2092.2 stems per acre in concentrated shrub areas within BRB in 2010. The
concentrated shrub areas comprised 229.2 acres, or 223% of BRB acreage. Woody stem
density data achieved sample adequacy in the concentrated shrub areas in 2010, and PSC
collected a minimum of 50 transects. The Division finds the data and calculations
acceptable, and finds the woody stem density establishment successful for 2010 in the
BRB.
BRB 2011 results for the background areas equaled 732.5 stems per acre. Woody stem
density did not achieve sample adequacy in 2011, but PSC collected a minimum of 30
sample transects. PSC provided reverse -null calculations to validate that the sample
