Dear Sir,
1. The south logging road will be used as the access route. There is existing logging road for the
entire distance to the claim. All fallen timber will be moved off the road, typically placed on the
downhill side of the road. A culvert will not be installed at the stream crossing, as per U.S.F.S.
recomendations. A locked metal gate will be installed to control access at the junction of the
existing closed logging road and Matukat Rd.
2. The existing closed logging road does have some water bars in place. Water bars will be
installed where neccessary to control erosion. Placement will depend on the steepness of the
existing road bed.
3. A existing bulldozer cut does lead off the logging road towards the proposed open pit. The
excavator can use this for access without altering or cutting the surface in any way.
4. The proposed open pit dimensions are the total maximun disturbed area. This includes
space for topsoil stockpile, spoil stockpile, and movement of the excavator. Actual open pit
dimensions will be approximately 1/3 of the proposed total disturbed area. The actual open pit
will be approximately 30 feet by 250 feet maximum dimensions. During the actual operation the
excavator will start downhill and move uphill, backfilling behind and moving uphill. At any time
the actual open pit will be a small fraction of the total dimension of the proposed open pit. This
method will produce the least amount of impact on the environment.
S. Approximately 1/3 will be actual open pit, and approximately 2/3 will be material stockpiles
and space for excavator movement.
6. We are familiar with silt fences and we have used them before. We can properly install them
to control erosion of all stockpiled material.
7. Native rock dams can be used in addition to silt fences for erosion control if the conditions
make it necessary. These rock dams would be 1 foot to 2 feet tall.
8. Bright orange plastic fence 4 feet tall has proven to be effective to safely control access
around and into the proposed open pit.
REGF11 "mr)
JAN 0 0 2015
DIVISION OF WLAMATjOH
MINING AND SAFETY
1
