11
standard air drilling additives. In the event that water is encountered during drilling, an
air -mist drilling medium will be used as necessary. Mud returns are expected to be
minimal throughout the drilling operation. All cuttings and muds will be contained in the
pit on the drill pad. A foaming agent may be required to remove cuttings from the holes.
In addition, a de- foaming agent may be required to minimize foaming on the pits.
A fuel truck will be temporarily located at the drill pad during drilling operations to
provide fuel to the drill rigs.
12.M. Drill pad sites are located in the upland areas of the property. Thus, there are no
significant surface waters associated with the site areas. Drainage from the individual
drill pads and access roads will be controlled based on the Storm Water Management
Plan.
No water wells are located in the general site area, other than one well drilled in the
alluvial fill of the White River drainage. This well was only 25 feet deep and had a water
level of 12 feet, according to Colorado Water Resources records.
All of the proposed drill sites are located on ridge areas of the property at elevations well
above the local drainages. The main water source in the area is the White River located to
the northwest of the property. No water is anticipated to be encountered as these holes
will be above the river in this area and the rocks are low permeable interbedded shales
and clays. These shallow holes will be monitored during drilling to see if water is
encountered, but if not will be abandoned according to Colorado rules for dry holes. If
the holes are deeper than the anticipated river elevation, then there is a potential to
encounter groundwater. If groundwater is encountered, the holes will be plugged and
abandoned in accordance with Colorado rules for holes that encounter groundwater.
CONTINUED FROM PAGES 5 & 6 OF NOI FORM
IV Operation and Reclamation Measures
2. These photos show the native vegetation of each drill pad:
