— FREMONT COUNTY WEED MANAGEMENT
615 Macon Ave.,Room U-5
Canon City,CO 81212
(719)276-7317
jana.gregg @fremontco.com
November 19, 2014
Attn: Ken Klco, Consulting Geologist
Azurite Inc.
RE: Requirement for weed management plan and site inspection for South Pit Lot 40 of Centennial Ranch Subdivision
Dear Ken Klco,
It has come to my attention that you are seeking a permit to increase the South Pit mining operation. As you know,a
site inspection and weed management plan are part of your permitting requirements. Due to current weather
conditions and time of year, it is not feasible to conduct a site inspection at this time. It is my recommendation that we
reschedule the inspection for a time during the growing season (possibly in the spring, depending on location).
This letter is for your records to indicate that you have initiated contact with Fremont County Weed Management and
that it has been determined that a site inspection and weed management plan will need to be developed at a more
feasible time. In order to do this, please keep me informed so that all factors in choosing a time can be considered (such
as weather, presence of actively growing plants, and operation plans or activities). Please note that this letter does not
negate the requirement of the site inspection or weed management plan and that you will need to contact our office
again to fulfill stated requirements.
Noxious weeds present a variety of concerns and state law mandates that landowners control existing infestations.
Therefore, it is prudent and economical that land managers be aware of noxious weeds and employ best management
practices(such as limiting disturbance and washing debris from equipment)to prevent the spread of noxious weeds to
new areas. These issues can be discussed in more detail during the inspection and you will be provided with educational
materials, as well.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 719-276-7317. 1 look forward to speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
a.7
Jana Gregg
Weed Management Director
