Ames: Continuing construction tasks for the Valley Leach Facility(VLF).
Planning: Continuing construction activities and scheduling for the VLF.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AND PROGRESS:
1) Earthworks
A) VLF (PSSA, Phase 1,and 2)
Topsoil/Overburden Stripping:
Topsoil was removed from the Phase 2 Area between the riprap stockpile and the Phase 2
Diversion Channel. The topsoil was hauled to the Area 34 topsoil stockpile.
Tree Grubbing and Clearing,Chipping:
Tree removal occurred in the Phase 2 area between the riprap stockpile and the Phase 2
Diversion Channel. Timbers greater than 6 inches in diameter were cut and stockpiled for
subsequent removal. Tree stumps (root balls)and slash were hauled and piled upslope of Phase
2 Diversion Channel station 38+00.
Production Drilling: None.
Production Blasting: None.
Structural Fill:
An AMEC field professional monitored fill material temperature placed within the fill areas.
Average structural fill temperatures were above 32°F. All construction materials placed were
verified as suitable, and construction methods were in accordance with project technical
specifications.
