12/8/2014 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine C1996083 Midterm Review (MT4) Reclamation Cost Estimate
with drier gob. Nearly all of it was placed and compacted on top of the gob pile.
Right now, during the cold /wet season, gob is being hauled off the top of the pile to
be mixed with drier material in the center of the pile.
Like we discussed yesterday, the handling of the stockpiled gob is seasonal. It is
understood DRMS must evaluate the worst case scenario, however, if DRMS were
forced to step in and reclaim the pile, construction would occur during the
spring /summer /fall season, when the weather is more favorable for placement and
compaction. Therefore, assuming 50% will be hauled off of the top to be mixed with
drier gob, should be an adequate and conservative estimate of what would occur in
the field.
agree with your haul distance for both gob pile #2 and #3. Let me know if you
need anything else, and thanks!
Tamme Bishop, P.E.
JE Stover & Associates, Inc.
2352 N. 7th Street, Unit B
Grand Junction, CO 81501
970- 245 -4101
From: Burgmaier - DNR, Susan [ maiIto :susan.burgmaier @state.co.us]
Sent: Monday, October 06, 2014 8:50 AM
To: Bill Bear
Cc: Alysha Hernandez - DNR; Tamme Bishop; Jim Stover; Mary Rodriguez - DNR
Subject: Bowie No. 2 Mine C1996083 Midterm Review (MT4)
Bill - attached is the Division's Midterm Review findings document for MT4 for the Bowie No. 2
Mine. Please note that there are required revisions to the permit that will need to be submitted on
or before December 2, 2014.
Also attached is the Division's reclamation cost estimate prepared for the midterm review. In
addition to increased equipment operating costs, there is a significant increase in the reclamation
liability because the cost estimate reflects the required rehandling of refuse material in the drying
areas. Please note that BRL is required to submit an additional $1,106,969.04 performance bond or
increase rider on or before November 5, 2014.
https: / /mail.googl e.com /m ai I /u/0 / ?ui =2 &i k= e29129fcb5 &view =pt &search= i nbox &th =14al c11 a2cd1646a &si m l =14a1 c11 a2cd1646a 2/3
