The mine facilities located at or adjacent to the No. 5, No. 5A, and No. 9 portals
will not be undermined during the 1998 — 2003 permit term. The structures in the these areas include mine portals,
bathhouses, ventilation fans, storage buildings, and utilities as well as coal transport, preparation, and storage
facilities. All mine facilities have been discussed in detail in Section 2.05.3, Operation Plan.
Mine Facilities (Presently Undermined). The mine facilities within the permit area that are presently undermined
include mine access roads, power lines, water lines, railroad spur, coal storage silo, and coal conveying system. These
facilities are located over development entries (mains and submains) which are designed to remain stable for the life
of the mine. These facilities have been protected against subsidence damage by ensuring that sufficient coal was left
in -place to prevent subsidence in the area.
Mine Facilities (To Be Undermined). The mine facilities under which proposed mining will be conducted include
both EC underground facilities and Trapper Mining, Inc. surface facilities. Proposed mining will undermine
underground mine structures in both the No. 5 and No. 9 Mines. However, no structures in the No. 9 Mine will be
undermined during the first five- (5) year permit term (1998 — 2003). The EC surface facilities that will be
undermined include: sedimentation ponds SH -PI, SH -P2 and the associated old shop and storage area, a rock dust
tank, the contractor staging area, the storage and wood shop, and the Okie Plaza well. Trapper Mining, Inc. surface
mine structures to be undermined includes reclaimed surface land. Trapper reclamation including two (2) topsoil
stockpiles, an access road leading to the topsoil stockpiles, and several small stock ponds were undermined during the
past permit term without any material damage.
Permit Revision 04 -34 2.05 -48.1 Revised 7 /2/04
