• RWe 2: Permits
LCC will utilize its water rights from the above-referenced ditches or such additional water rights
presented in Table 2.04.7-5 as necessary, for augmentation of all water uses on the Lorencito
Tract pursuant to a properly approved Substitute Water Supply Plan and/or Plan of Augmentation.
This plan will specify the necessary points of diversion on or adjacent to the Tract and storage in
an adequate facility to allow year-round water use for the mining operations.
2.04.8 CLIMATOLOGICAL INFORMATION
The climatological information for the Lorencito Canyon Mine has been estimated using the
historical records from North Lake and the Trinidad Airport. A climatology for the Lorencito site
is extrapolated from these two sets of climatic data because no information exists for the mine site.
The Trinidad Airport at latitude 37° 15' North, Longitude 104° 20' West at an elevation of 5,740
feet above mean sea level (msl). The period of record for the Trinidad climatology is 1948 to
1995. North Lake is located at latitude 37° 13' North, 105° 03' West at an elevation of 8,810 feet
msl. The period of record for the North Lake climatology is 1948 to 1980.
Temperature and precipitation vary with changes of elevation. A direct linear extrapolation was
done to estimate the climate at the lowest and highest elevations of the Lorencito Canyon Mine
site. This was done by the following formula:
• PL = PT + ((EL - ET) / (EN - ET)) * (PNL - PT)
where:
PL =estimated climatology value at Lorencito at either 6600 or 7200 feet msl
PT =measured climatology value at Trinidad
PNL =measured climatology value at North Lake
EL =elevation at Lorencito Canyon Mine (6600 and 7200 feet msl)
ET =elevation at Trinidad Airport (5740 feet msl)
EN =elevation at North Lake (8810 feet msl).
The resulting climatology of the Lorencito Canyon Mine site is shown in Table 2.04.8-1.
r1
L_J
PERMIT.~'IS\DCSmber Z0. 1996 2.04-37
