Mulching:
After the disturbed areas are reseeded, certified weed free straw mulch will be crimped in
at a rate 2 tons/acre.70%of the straw must be strands of 10 inches or more.
Irrigation:
The Reclamation Seed Mix is not required to be watered as irrigation may end up harming
the development and germination of the grasses. No watering is planned for the reclaimed
areas.
Reclamation seeding may take up to 3 to 5 years to fully stabilize. Silt fence and erosion
control measures shall remain in place until a healthy stand of vegetation has been
established.
e) Weed Control
Post-seeding weed control will depend largely on the types and amounts of weeds that
emerge. Generally, grazing should be deferred while seeded species are establishing;
however, winter annuals such as Japanese and/or downy brome could be suppressed with
high stock density "flash" grazing which would provide the additional benefit of improved
litter incorporation. Other weeds should be mowed to a height of 6-12" to suppress vigor
and seed production while also maintaining some canopy cover for shading and dissipation
of raindrop energy.Noxious weeds should be aggressively spot-controlled at all times.
Exk"6A E P193 o;S
