Jim Riddle of CAM- Colorado, LLC and Jim Stover
of J. E. Stover & Associaties were present at the mine site and accompanied DRMS in the ground inspection.
Weather conditions were clear and the temperature around seventy degrees fahrenheit with ground conditions dry.
On September 9, 2014, a large precipitation event occured in the area encompassing the McClane Canyon Mine.
The amount of precipitation was measured on site with a rain gauge and measured approximately 2 inches of rain
in a 24 hour time period. The reason for this inspection was to act as a follow up to esure all items addressed in the
previous inspection report were being addressed as a result of the large precipitation event.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
All culverts on site have been cleared and removed of debris. The large catch basins associated with the drop
culverts near the portal area have cleaned out and restored. No issues were observed with any culvert on site.
Silt fences have been cleaned and restored on site. No issues observed.
Sediment removal from sumps is still on -going due to soupy conditions of sediment. All surface runoff is directed
to the sediment pond. This remains a general maintenance item but no issues were observed.
The sediment pond remains filled with sediment and debris from the storm. The primary spillway has been cleared
and is now functional. The mine continues to work on removing the sediment from the pond given the sediment's
state of solidity. However, as per Rule 4.05.6(3), sediment ponds must provide adequate capacity to contain or
treat the runoff or inflow entering the pond as a result of 10 -year, 24 -hour precipitation event and provide for an
adequate sediment storage volume and periodic sediment removal to effect compliance with 4.05.2(7). hi order to
maintain compliance, the sediment pond must be restored to the approved design and storage capacity.
