TR-07 RECLAMATION PLAN
5. The edges of a backfilled area, where it joins natural, unmined land, shall have a broad and
gentle transition. To create such a transition, a cut and fill approach may be required.
See page 10 for discussion. Also see grading requirements.
6. In the process of grading the land, closed basins will not be created unless such a basin is required
to control runoff and sediment discharge. If such a basin is needed it will comply with the
requirements stated in the "Water Control Requirements" portion of this Reclamation Plan.
No additional discussion.
7. Drainage Reconnection Requirements. (This requirement is also included in the "Water Control
Requirement" portion of this Reclamation Plan).
1. Small drainages naturally occur on the side slopes of hills and form a
significant part of the general character of the topography.
2. Re-establishing these drainages in an area that has been mined is important.
3. Drainages will be constructed using a flow line that closely simulates other
unmined drainages in the area.
4. Straight line drainages will not be created. A gentle winding pattern is more
effective and natural.
5. If the drainage requires small basins due to its length or grade, the basins will
be created in accordance with the requirements for closed basins stated in the
"Water Controls" portion of this Reclamation Plan.
No additional discussion.
8. Grading shall create gentle slopes with a gradient not to exceed 5:1.
No additional discussion.
9. The edges of backfilled and graded pits shall not exhibit abrupt breaks in the slope. The grading
will create a gentle transition from unmined land to mined and backfilled land. (NOTE: This is
similar to a requirement stated in the Backfill portion of the Reclamation Plan. It is repeated here
because of its importance. Please refer to that previous section for a discussion of this requirement.)
See page 10 for discussion.
10. Final grading of the surface will not be smooth. The final grading will create a mildly ridged
final surface. The ridges will be more or less parallel the contours of the slope. The depth of the
"valleys" between the ridges should be on the order of two to four inches. The final surface should
look quite a bit like corduroy fabric. (TR-07 Note: Due to the nature of the area yet to be mined,
this requirement does not have much actual importance. This is because the land has a very gentle
slope. As the mining limit adjacent to the drainage to the east is near the top of the slope leading into
the drainage, slippage is not likely to occur.)
No additional discussion.
11. The primary plant growth medium(topsoil or other suitable materials) shall be spread to a
minimum depth of ten (10") inches. (TR-07 Note: As the area to be mined has abundant and fairly
deep soils, this depth should not be limiting.)
No additional discussion.
Coal Creek Sand Resource Amendment 3 (2005)- M-1988-044 Exhibit E Page 3
