Mr. Lance Barker
October 20, 2014
Page 4
face"was to smooth off and/or terrace and reseed it. . In 1989, the Division approved the
recontouring to near original grade, but concluded adequate revegetation had not been
established (see attached release request photos, top photo). The Division expects a
commitment by the Applicant to a similar level of reclamation, followed by revegetation
for this area.
■ Little Hope Mine (M-2004-064)— The approved reclamation plan committed to: removing
and reclaiming existing dumps; sealing shafts and escapeways; backfilling and reseeding
new haul roads; and placing topsoil(6 to 12 inches as available)on mine benches.
9. Paragraph (e) —The reclamation treatment for the waste rock dump(s). The response is partially
adequate. Given the post mine land use is rangeland, the Division would normally expect slopes
to be graded to 3H:1 V or flatter. However given the steep nature of the local topography, the
Division asks the Applicant to commit to matching the slope of the local terrain for final
reclamation..
10. Paragraph 2, Reclamation Cost Estimate — A copy of the detailed preliminary bond estimate
worksheets are enclosed as requested.
6.3.5 EXHIBIT E-Map
11. Maps E and E-1 —There are five"Mapped Pits"... The response is adequate.
Please be advised the Mineral Mountain Project Application may be deemed inadequate and the application
may be denied on November 16, 2014 unless the abovementioned adequacy review items are addressed to
the satisfaction of the Division. If you feel more time is needed to complete your reply, the Division can
grant an extension to the decision date. This will be done upon receipt of a written waiver of your right to a
decision by November 16, 2014 and request for additional time. This must be received no later than the
deadline date.
If you have any questions, please contact me(303-866-3567 ext. 8169).
Sincerely,
Ti othy azier,P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
Enclosures
cc: Tom Kaldenbach, DRMS
Art Braun,Braun Environmental, Inc.
DRMS file
mArninitc1l_telleft-2014-045 mineral mtn prjl2ar-20oct14m-14-45.docx
