e. MCM Response: Map 29 has been reviewed and compared with the Pre -
Mining Land Use Map (Map 3). Post mining land -use designations have been
added to Map 29 which generally reflects restoration of mine disturbance areas
to the pre- mining use. It should be noted however, that there may be some
ambiguity in the pre- mining use designations, and the designated post- mining
use reflect current and anticipated future use for the disturbed and surrounding
areas.
d. DRMS Response: The mine area disturbance boundary depicted on revised
Map 29a does not encompass the entire mine - related disturbance. Similarly, the
sub -set map on revised Map 29a depicts the post -mine land use designations for
the disturbed area to be reclaimed and they do not encompass the entire mine
area disturbance. For example, all or portions of the following areas are not
encompassed by the mine disturbance area polygon or encompassed by post -
mine land use designations polygons: #5 portal area, #5a portal area, certain
sedimentation ponds, diversion/collection or mine water ditches, railroad spur,
certain access and light duty roads, 100,000 gallon water tank and the
surrounding area, and the solid waste disposal area. Please revise Map 29a so
all the mine related disturbance is encompassed by the polygons used to depict
the mine disturbance area and their appropriate post -mine land use.
Response: The No. 5 Mine Portal Area is included on the referenced map and
labeled appropriately. The other minor areas are shown on the map (with the
exception of drainage ditches), and hatching has been added to identify them as
mine - related disturbance and to identify postmining land uses (inset). It should
be noted, however, that the mapped areas are approximations only, and should
not be used to try to determine disturbance acreages. The areas shown are
generally slightly larger than the actual disturbance footprints and are drawn to
encompass all disturbance. MCM will address all mine - related disturbance
consistent with the approved reclamation plans during the reclamation process,
when appropriate.
4.05.13 — Surface and Ground Water Monitoring:
1) Revised Map 11 does not depict stream water quality monitoring site Y -1 or the North
Spring (Lippard Spring No. 1). Please add these features to this map and submit a
revised copy.
a. MCM Response: The referenced map has been revised and is included with the
responses.
b. DRMS Response: The North Spring on the revised Map #11 is in a different
place than depicted on the currently approved M #11. Please explain this
discrepancy.
c. MCM Response: Paradigm Shift
d. DRMS Response: This item was not addressed, please explain the discrepancy
and /or revise the Map #11.
