§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING
ACTIVITIES --MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION
limitations of the Colorado Department of Health and
Environment Construction Permit 11 DL252-6.
7. Silo Elevating Conveyor (R-1)
A 600 foot 48 inch conveyor carries coal from the truck
dump to the top of the silos. The elevating conveyor
rests on bent construction, is covered and is loaded by
a vibratory feeder. The electrically driven belt is
powered at the ground level with a gravity tensioning
system located at ground level near the drive system.
8. Coal Storage Silos (31
Three concrete cylindrical silos are used to store up to
21,000 tons of coal as a reserve live storage facility for
the loading of 115 car unit trains. These coal silos are
fitted with individual bag house dust collection systems.
The silos are filled with coal hauled to the truck dump,
which in turn is delivered to the top of the silo via the
silo elevating conveyor. Two short conveyors (R-2, R-
3) which runs across the top of the silos can selectively
fill each silo. Vibratory feeders fitted under the base of
each silo deliver gravity fed coal onto the train loadout
elevating conveyor. These coal silos operate under the
limitations of the Colorado Department of Health and
Environment Construction Permit 11 DL252-7.
ii
TR-020 2.05 - 8 3/01
