CIVIL RESURCES,LLC
ENGINEERS & PLANNERS
October 7, 2014
Mr. Eric Scott, Reclamation Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: Technical Revision 1 to the Burch Amendment Mining Plan Map, File no. M- 1998.013
Dear Mr. Scott:
Bestway Concrete and aggregates is proposing to mine the area (recently added Burch area to the Shores
gravel mine) shown on the updated mining plan. Bestway originally intended on slurry lining the Burch site
but has since changed its plans as follows. Bestway anticipates stripping the north 3 acres for overburden
material and is not intending to mine any aggregate from this 3 acre piece. Bestway will then mine the east
9.4 acres and finish by mining the west 13.9 acres. Once the east area has been fully mined the west
portion will be mined in two 6.95 acre phases. Each phase will be dewatered and the dewatering water will
be recharged into the north 3 acre phase. One haul route will be built from the east phase including two
crossings over the Rural Ditch for conveyance of material via conveyor. The temporary Rural Ditch
crossing in the middle of the site will used for haul trucks. All depletions will be covered under a State
Engineers Office approved substitute water supply plan.
Concerning reclamation Bestway proposes to leave 6 -foot of overburden material onsite and use fines
generated from washing aggregate to backfill the exposed water surface area on the Burch Site. The
updated bond table is attached along with the proposed mining plan.
Prior to commencing on this phase, Bestway Concrete and Aggregates will notify the DRMS.
Enclosed please find a copy of the revised mining plan map and the application fee of $216. Thank you for
working with us on this application and please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
CIVIL RESOURCES, LLC
Andy RodrigueP. .
Project Manager
cc: Mark Johnson, Bestway Concrete and Aggregate Inc.
J \Bestway- 213 \Firestone- Shores \shores -burch amendment \DRMS Amendment Burch Property\2013 application\DRMS\Tecnlcal Revisions \letter to DRMS- TR1,doc
323 FIF-rH STREET • P.O.
