Compliance With Mine Plan-Support Facilities Not On-site <br />NANA <br />-Other-Special Categories Of Mining <br />RR <br />-Processing Waste-Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This was a partial inspection of the Bowie No. 2 Mine based on aerial photographs of the site taken by Harry <br />Ranney and reviewed by Susan Burgmaier of DRMS. Weather conditions at the time of the flight were clear; <br />ground conditions appeared to be dry. <br />The Bowie No.2 Mine is actively mining in the B Seam, west of Terror Creek, in Panel B15; a longwall move has <br />been initiated, preparing to mine Panel B16. Refuse was being hauled to Gob Pile #2. A truck was hauling coal <br />uphill on the main haul road, presumably coal from the Elk Creek Mine being transported to the D Bench <br />stockpile. <br />AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION –Rule 4.17: <br />A water truck was watering the roadway on the east end of Gob Pile #3, where cover material was being <br />excavated. The intersection of the main haul road, Gob Pile #3 haul road and old State Highway 133 (Bowie Rd) <br />had apparently just been washed down. No fugitive dust was apparent in the vicinity of operating equipment or <br />vehicles traveling roadways. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br />4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br />Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage –Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br />Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Ponds B, C, D, F, and J were holding water.
