September 23, 2014 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine JLE
to the site. The topsoil stockpiled at the site was marked with an identification marker.
Site 2014 -M7 had been drilled prior to the Division's previous inspection conducted in August. Topsoil had not
been salvaged prior to drilling the site; however T 41 placed a topsoil identification marker on an extremely small
pile of topsoil adjacent to the pad.
Site 2013 -AE3 had not been reclaimed. The drill hole has been permanently sealed.
Site 2010 -M10 was being drilled during the Division's previous inspection in August. Topsoil that had been
salvaged prior to drilling has been placed in pile at the base of the pad. The stored topsoil was marked with an
identification marker.
Site 2014 -M9 had been drilled prior to the Division's previous inspection in August. Topsoil that had been
removed from the site was stored in a berm adjacent to the pad. The topsoil stockpile has been marked with a
topsoil identification marker.
Site 2014 -Ml I has not been drilled. Salvageable topsoil from the pad has been removed and stored adjacent to the
pad. The topsoil stockpile has been marked with a topsoil identification marker. A mud pit has been excavated on
the pad.
Site 2014 -M5 is located within an area that has been stripped of topsoil in advance of the mining operation. The
pad has not been drilled yet.
Site 2014 -M4 had not been drilled at the time of the inspection. A mud pit has been excavated within the pad area.
Topsoil was removed and stored at the site at the base of the pad. A topsoil identification marker needed to be
placed on the stored topsoil. Mr. Roberts indicated that he would place a marker on the stockpile.
According to Mr. Roberts, the following 2014 pads may not be drilled this year: M8, M3, M4, M5 and M11. If
these sites will remain idle, the mud pits should be filled in for safety reasons. TMI will need to evaluate their
drilling program to determine if the sites will be drilled next year. It the site will not be drilled next year, the pads
should be reclaimed.
Houndstongue, Dalmatian Toadflax, Bull or Must Thistle and Knapweed were observed on several of the
reclaimed drill pads. It appears Trapper has been conducting weed mitigation monitoring and spraying; some of
the weeds observed appeared to have been treated with a herbicide. Trapper will need to continue to monitor the
site and take weed control measures as necessary.
Topsoil stockpiled at development drill pads that may sit idle over the winter and into next year must be protected
from damages by the procedures for protecting stockpiles approved in Trapper permit and as required by Rule
4.06.3.
TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 6 of 13
