September 23, 2014 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine
JLE
Site 2012 -AE3 has been reclaimed and revegetated. Dense grass has established throughout the site. Gamble
Oak, Choke Cherry, Service Berry and Snowberry saplings were observed near the boarders of the site.
Site 2010 -AE3 is situated on top of a sandy ridge. This site has been reclaimed and is vegetated. The desired
vegetation is not as dense compared to other sites located in more protected areas of the surrounding watershed,
however considering the dryness of the site and its exposure, the vegetation has done well.
Site 2012 -AE4 is reclaimed and revegetated. Dalmatian toadflax was observed in several patches located on this
site. Overall, the desired vegetation has established well.
Site 2014 -M1, has been drilled, the water from the drilling operations was directed to a small basin at the base of
the drill pad surrounded by a berm. The salvageable topsoil at this site is located in a berm at the base of the pad
and is marked with a topsoil identification marker.
Site 2014 -M2 has been drilled. The water generated from the drilling operation appears to have been discharged
into a small basin at the base of the pad. The salvageable topsoil at the site is placed in a pile adjacent to the pad
and is marked with a topsoil identification marker.
Site 2010 -AE4 has been reclaimed and revegetated. The site has very dense perennial grass established.
Dalmatian toadflax and Knapweed were observed at the site. Gamble oak sprouts were observed at the site.
Site 2012 -AE5 has been reclaimed and revegetated. Dense perennial grass has established at the site. A large
patch of either Musk or Bull thistle has established on this pad and will need to be monitored and treated.
Houndstongue was also observed on this site.
Site 2013 -AE4 had not been reclaimed at the time of the inspection. The drill hole had been permanently sealed.
The pad was created by pushing the topsoil to the end of the pad onto what appears to be an old road area. The
topsoil was not stored properly. As this site has been drilled and sealed, the pad should be reclaimed as soon as
possible.
Site 2014 -M3 had not been drilled at the time of the inspection. Topsoil was removed and stored adjacent to the
drill pad. The topsoil stockpile was marked with an identification post. The operator has excavated a mud pit on
the pad.
Site 2014 -M8 had not been drilled at the time of the inspection. The mud pit has been excavated at the site.
Topsoil was removed and stored adjacent to the pad. The topsoil was marked with an identification marker. The
topsoil stockpile was placed adjacent to the road used to access the pad. Given its proximity to the road, TMI
should push the portion of the stockpile near the road a little further away from the road and place some type of a
barrier like a berm to protect the stockpile from damaged by vehicles and from topsoil washing down the road.
Site 2014 -M6 had been drilled prior to the Division's previous inspection in August. Topsoil at this particular site
is very deep and the pad was primarily constructed out of topsoil. Some topsoil was removed and stored adjacent
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 5 of 13
