Spring 2014 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
South of Divide and Dry Fork Mininq Areas (E -Seam)
Figure 10. Fall 2013 easterly view of the access
road to MDW E4 -11 along the north side of Dry
Fork. Note the subsidence crack in the road
foreground.
4.7.3 Location 6
Figure 11. Spring 2014 view of the same area
shown in Figure 10. Note the healing of the
foreground subsidence crack.
Several sub - parallel subsidence cracks were observed on the cut -slope above the access road as it
enters the MDW E4 -11 pad during the fall 2013 field visit (Map 1). Material along this cut -slope
appeared to be relatively loose as if it had been graded as opposed to being representative of an
exposed subsurface materials. The observed cracks (Figure 12) appeared to be more a function of
downslope movement of loose materials than a direct subsidence feature. Nonetheless, recent
mining in the area was thought to be a factor in the development of the observed features. Figure
13 shows this same location as observed during our spring 2014 field visit and the lack of any
remaining evidence of these same features.
831 - 032.795 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
