Page 2
August 26, 2014
Mr. Tyler O'Donnell
Colorado DRMS
areas will remain "as -is ". A summary of the proposed modifications is provided
below.
Proposed Technical Revision:
DRMS personnel performed a roine inspection at Debetz Pit on April 23, 2014.
As documented in the inspection eport (Backfilling and Grading), it was advised
that Adams County submit a technical revision and provide an updated reclamation
plan and reclamation plan map describing how the slopes of the pond will be re-
graded/stabilized along the edge f the golf course. Adams County is submitting this
TR -02 based on the recommendation by DRMS.
During the inspection it was observed that some areas along the southern and
western permit boundaries include shoreline slopes that are greater than 3H:1 V.
DRMS personnel observed that in general, the shoreline slopes appear stable and are
vegetated with native grasses and mall shrubs. Some localized areas show minor
signs of erosion or slumping that will require re- grading and stabilization.
On June 23, 2014 GEI performed 4 site reconnaissance of the Debetz Pit shoreline
at the request of Adams County. OEI identified four specific areas that we believe
should receive targeted reclamati n including regrading and slope stabilization.
Specific areas are depicted in Figure 2 and summarized below.
GEI identified three sections totaling approximately 320 linear feet along the
western permit boundary adjacent1to the golf course that will require regrading and
revegetation. Slope amendments will be performed by hand or by small powered
equipment. Large equipment will] not be used in order to preserve the natural look
of the golf course. Disturbed areas will be vegetated with native grasses or armored
with riprap to provide slope stability and match the surrounding landscape.
One section totaling approximate) 150 linear feet along the southern permit
boundary will be re- graded to achieve a 3H:1 V slope above the water line. Slope
amendments will be performed using small powered equipment in order to work
around the existing fishing piers. Disturbed areas will be vegetated with native
grasses or armored with rip -rap tolprovide slope stability and match the surrounding
landscape.
All mine reclamation activities will be implemented in general accordance with the
originally approved reclamation plan (April 1978) and in accordance with the
Adams County Regional Park Mater Plan (February 2008). The revised
reclamation plan presented here isl proposed to be in compliance with the stated
goals of the original reclamation plan. Namely that the revised reclamation plan is,
"...designed to complement the surrounding area where recreation and open space
are currently the predominant land uses."
