MINING AND SAFETY
Stagecoach Pit - 8/14/14 Inspection
M.L.R.B. Permit # M- 1983 -067
Thank you for sending the inspection report for the Stage-
coach Pit, by e -mail today, giving us more time to respond to the
corrective actions noted in the report. Ben Frei and I have
reviewed the requirements and we feel the initial mitigation is
to start with the drainage system from the Zigan lake across the
Stagecoach mine to the river since the lake level concerns seem
to be the most pressing at this time.
As part of the mitigation plan Albert Frei & Sons, Inc.,
proposes immediately opening the lake overflow pipe so there is a
direct flow into the river. The recharge pond will then be
allowed to drain and dry up taking an potential impediment out of
the system. This will be done by installing a "T" joint into the
Stagecoach side of the pipe below the shutoff valve and diverting
the water into the river. This will be completed by Friday,
September 12, 2014.
We believe that by eliminating the pond, we will be increas-
ing the efficiency of the pipeline system by allowing for the
free flow of water thru it. The next step will be to inspect the
interior of the pipeline by sending a camera through it to check
for any obstructions or breaks that may be creating problems.
This will be completed by Wednesday, September 17, 2014. if
problems are found they will be fixed as soon as possible.
When is its determined water is flowing unimpeded through
the pipeline system at its maximum capacity, we can then monitor
lake level changes to see if the problem is resolved. We propose
