Compliance With Mine Plan <br />N - Support Facilities Not On -site <br />N - Other <br />N - Special Categories Of Mining <br />N - Processing Waste <br />N - Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This was a partial inspection of the Keenesburg Strip Mine conducted by Brock Bowles of the Colorado Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Danny Kipp of Coors Energy Company was present for the inspection. The <br />weather was mostly sunny and warm but rain clouds were seen west of the mine site indicating the possibility of <br />more rain. Mr Kipp said the mine site recieved more than inch of rain within the previous 12 hours. The ground <br />was muddy in many areas with standing water. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); <br />Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />A few gullies had formed on the face of the ash back fill from the recent rain. The ash material from the <br />gullies was contained within the B -Pit (photo 1). <br />The south side of the long -term spoil area had been re- graded and 15 inches of topsand had been applied. <br />FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18: <br />A red - tailed hawk was soaring west of B -Pit, 2 Swainson's hawks flew from the top sand B pile, 2 great <br />blue herons were standing in the water pooled in the B -pit and a turtle was in a water puddle at the base of top <br />sand pile B (photo 2). <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Sediment pond 2 and the dugout pond (photo 3) both contained about 8 inches of water and neither were <br />discharging. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
