PART 2 PRODUCTS - Not Used. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 PREPARATION <br />A. Call Local Utility Line Information service not less than three working days before <br />performing Work. <br />1. Request underground utilities to be located and marked within and surrounding <br />construction areas. <br />B. Identify required lines, levels, contours, and datum. <br />C. Protect utilities indicated to remain from damage. <br />D. Protect bench marks, survey control points, existing structures, fences, paving, from <br />excavating equipment and vehicular traffic. Immediately replace any monuments <br />damaged or removed by construction activities. <br />3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. Section 01 40 00 - Quality Requirements: Field inspecting, testing. <br />B. Request visual inspection of bearing surfaces by Engineer and inspection agency before <br />installing subsequent work. Contact Engineer 48 hours before exposing the foundation <br />and coordinate activities so the area can be observed, mapped and covered within the <br />time limitations presented in this section. <br />3.3 EXCAVATION FROM BORROW <br />A. The working limits for borrow area operation shall be determined by the Contractor and <br />will be subject to review by the Engineer. The Contractor shall be responsible for <br />developing the borrow areas in a manner so as not to adversely impact his site /work area <br />dewatering or site runoff /diversion controls. <br />B. Borrow area operations shall be within the pit boundaries, including equipment routing <br />within the active areas. <br />C. No borrowing of bedrock for the clay core materials shall be allowed within 200 feet of <br />the proposed toe of the embankment except for foundation excavation material. Material <br />removed for foundation excavation, if acceptable, can be used as fill. Any excavation of <br />bedrock shall be at slopes of 6:1 (horizontal to vertical) or flatter. <br />D. Perform borrow area operations in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and <br />local regulations. <br />E. The Contractor will not be required to excavate surfaces of borrow pits to any specified <br />lines and grades. Surfaces shall be left in a reasonably smooth and even condition. <br />Borrow pits shall be operated and left in a condition so as not to impair the usefulness <br />NCCI Pit #1 Reservoir Liner - Technical Specifications Excavation <br />312316 -2 <br />
