5. ASTM D4253 - Standard Test Methods for Maximum Index Density and Unit
Weight of Soils Using a Vibratory Table.
6. ASTM D2487 - Standard Classification of Soils for Engineering Purposes
(Unified Soil Classification System).
7. ASTM C 136 - Standard Test Method for Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse
Aggregates.
B. The percent compaction requirements for earthwork will be evaluated as follows:
The in -place density as compacted by the Contractor will be determined by the
field density test using the sand -cone method or the nuclear method. The
maximum dry density of the fill at the location of the in -place density test will be
estimated using full -curve compaction test (family of curves) of representative
fill materials. The full -curve compaction tests will be performed according to
ASTM D698. The percent compaction in -place will be calculated as the ratio (in
percent) of the in -place dry density to the estimated maximum dry density of the
compacted fill at the location of the in -place density test.
1.7 QUALITY CONTROL TESTING
Schedule of quality control testing shall be as summarized in Table 1 below:
Table 1 — Quality Control Testing Schedule
Material
Test
Test Schedule
Zone I & Zone II
Sieve Analysis, USCS
Every 10,000 to 15,000 cubic
Fill
Classification, Standard Proctor
yards or each individual
source /material
Zone I & Zone II
In -place density & water content,
Every 2,000 to 5,000 cubic
Fill
test pits
yards or each individual
source /material
Zone III Fill
Sieve Analysis, Standard
Every 2,000 to 4,000 cubic
Proctor/Relative Density
yards or each individual
source /material
Zone III Fill
In -place density & water content
Every 1000 cubic yards
Special Fill
Sieve Analysis, USCS
Each individual source /material
Classification, Standard Proctor
if different from Zone I
source /material
Special Fill
In -place density & water content
Every 500 cubic yards or each
individual source /material
PART 2 PRODUCTS - Not Used
PART 3 EXECUTION - Not Used
END OF SECTION
NCCI Pit #1 Reservoir Liner - Technical Specifications Quality Requirements
014000 -4
