COMMENTS
A complete inspection of the King Coal Mine was conducted by Marcia Talvitie of the Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety on Thursday, August 21, 2014. Skies were clear, and the
temperature reached the low 80s. Wade Wymore and Mike McFarland participated in the
inspections of the King I and King 11 surface facilities.
GCC Energy, LLC has made recent adjustments in personnel at the mine. Mr. Wymore has been
reassigned from Surface Supervisor to Plant Superintendent; Mr. McFarland will likely be
accompanying Division personnel on future inspections of the King Coal Mine.
PERMITTING UPDATE:
TR -22 - Exploration Drill Holes (9) — The Division issued a proposed decision to approve on
July 3rd. No objections were received, and the revision was forinally issued on July 16, 2014.
TR -23 — Increase in Production — The application was submitted electronically; the Division will
call it complete once the hard copy is received in the Denver office.
MR -39 — King I Map Updates; King 11 Emissions Permit — The Division anticipates submittal of
this application in the near future.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
• The mine identification sign was posted at the entrance to the King II facilities. The
supporting posts had been recently damaged by a coal truck leaving the site, but the sign was
present and the required information was displayed.
Markers delineating the surface disturbance were posted as required around the King I and
King 11 facility areas.
