Re: Rodmans' Demand Regarding Greeley's Sand and Gravel Mine, 25th Avenue Site,
M-2002-020
August 22, 2014
Page 2
Rodman that cistern water levels are low and water is needed for irrigation. This has included
water deliveries made on July 24th, 25th, and 29th, and August 14th and 15th.
The hauled water and cistern provide the Rodmans with an alternative source of water during
Greeley's mine dewatering operations to support what we understand to be the historic well
water production on the Rodman property. While other options have been considered and
discussed, including the installation of a water line, it was determined based on information
available to us and the actions we have already taken, that further actions are not necessary at
this time. Therefore,we presently plan to continue filling the cistern with hauled water when
necessary and in a manner that is reasonable and responsive to the Rodmans' requests. At this
time, based on the information available to us, we believe that Greeley's actions have more than
adequately addressed any potential impacts from Greeley's dewatering operations.
We share the Rodmans' desire to resolve the present situation. However, we lack specific
information that would lead us to believe that our efforts have not sufficiently addressed the
Rodmans' well production problems to the extent they may be attributable to our operations. If
you can provide us with additional information, including records of the historical production of
the wells and any other information by which we can objectively assess the impact of our
operations on the output of the Rodman wells, we will reassess our position.
Thank your for your ongoing cooperation and assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Environmental and Water Resources Attorney
City of Greeley, Colorado
cc: (via email)
Peter Hays, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Eric Reckentine, City of Greeley Deputy Director Water Resources
Jim Hall, City of Greeley Water Resources Manager
