The report covers the C-Pit ponded water and related monitoring well water for the second quarter of 2014
(April 1, 2014 to June 30,2014).
Sample Collection Summary
Table 1 presents data for the last four quarters. For the second quarter compliance monitoring, water samples were
collected on the following dates:
• May 15, 2014: Samples were collected from CEM-001,CEM-004, and CEM-005 groundwater wells,and from C-Pit. These
samples were analyzed for chloride, sulfate, and total dissolved solids(TDS). As shown in historical reports, quarterly
monitoring of well CEM-005 shows that it is typically dry. The May 15, 2014 sample is the first sample ever obtained from
CEM-005. However, this data is not considered to be representative because of complications with the sample collection
process(explained in further detail below), but is reported here for completeness. The May 15, 2014 samples were
analyzed for pH,chloride, sulfate, dissolved solids. The pH analysis was performed at the time of collection for all
samples.
• June 17, 2014:Samples were collected from CEM-001,CEM-004,CEM-005, and C-Pit and analyzed for selenium and
thallium. Selenium and thallium were inadvertently excluded from analysis of the May 15,2014 samples. The data
collected from CEM-005 is not considered to be representative because of sampling collection complications(described
below). The pH analysis was performed at the time of collection.
• June 30, 2014: Resampling was conducted to evaluate the chloride results obtained from the May 15,2014 samples
collected at CEM-001 and CEM-004. CEM-001 was re-sampled and analyzed for pH,chloride, sulfate, dissolved solids,
selenium, and thallium. The pH analysis was performed at the time of collection. CEM-005 did not produce any water
this day so no sample could be collected.
