RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont)
material" , i . e . old concrete, asphalt, dirt, sand and gravel ,
masonry products and rubble from construction sites . As the
material arrives the driver will be directed to an area where
fill is being placed. The material will then be pushed into the
hole using either a front-end loader or bulldozer . Because there
will be a need for finer fill and topsoil to complete the cap
over the course materials, when that material is delivered some
will be segregated and saved for this purpose .
Initially, backfilling in Phase 1 of the Reclamation Plan will be
done using on site material , mostly wash fines created during
material processing and some on site rubble may also be placed in
the excavated area . Phase 1 will be backfilled to a level close
to its existing surface elevation and graded so it will slope
gently to the west to restore the natural drainage across the
site . Drainage for the existing water features that will remain
will be routed around the fill area to preserve drainage . In
addition to growth medium salvaged from the mine area, the finer
material having been salvaged from imported material will be
spread over the fill and it will be graded and seeded with the
approved mix.
Phase 2 will be filled with imported, inert fill as described
above . Filling will begin on the east side and progress to the
west as shown on the Mining Plan Map creating a gently sloping
area that is at the same elevation as Monaco Street on the east
side . As filling progresses across the site we will salvage and
stock pile finer material to use as a final cover. It is ex-
pected that this cover will be at least 3 foot deep over the
courser fill and then 8-12 inches of salvage growth medium will
be placed on the area for use as a seed bed.
Phase 2 will slope from southeast to northwest so that stormwater
can be directed to the existing lake, that will remain when
mining ends . The setbacks from the property line will be 25
feet . This will leave a level area around the fill that will be
graded so any surface water runoff will flow to the property
interior and be retained on site . This setback will allow access
to the property line . When filling is complete the side slopes
and setback area will be resoiled and revegetated using the
approved seed mixture . The reclamation timetable shows the
amount of land in each reclamation area when complete .
13
