The permit for this mine was revoked and the bond was forfeited. The
reclamation was completed by the Division. The weather was sunny and clear in the mornings with increasing
clouds in the afternoons. Many storm clouds were seen in the area but it did not rain at the minesite during the
inspection.
The purpose of this inspection was to document the vegetation cover and production at the minesite for the
purpose of termination of jurisdiction. This was the second consecutive year of vegetation monitoring. Also
present for the inspection and to assist with the vegetation sampling was Susan Burgmaier (DRMS), Lucas West
(DRMS) and Spencer Shumate (OSM). Mr. Shumate voluntarily attened to assist with vegetation sampling and
this was not considered an OSM oversight inspection.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
The upper portal area appears to be stable (photo 1). There were no signs of slumping or cracking. The
lower adit area that was excavated and repaired in September 2013 (see Sept 9, 2013 inspection report) appears to
be stable (photo 2). There were no signs of slumping or cracking.
The soil on the steep hillside on the lower portal area between the upper and lower road continues to be loose and
unconsolidated. Annual species such as cheat grass, alyssum, tumble mustard and Russian thistle dominate this
area. No transects samples were taken in this area because of potential danger to personnel and potential to cause
excessive damage to an already unstable area.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE — Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.053; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: I
Page 2 of 4
