PERMIT#: M-1993-035 <br /> INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS <br /> INSPECTION DATE:July 17,2014 <br /> OBSERVATIONS <br /> This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Swan River Resource 112c permit conducted by Eric Scott of <br /> DRMS. Due to a schedule conflict with Summit County representative Brian Lorch, DRMS conducted the <br /> inspection without the permittee present. This site is a 162 acre active 112c permit located along the Swan <br /> River approximately 6 miles east of Breckenridge on Hwy 6. This site is primarily a historic dredge spoil <br /> (cobble) removal project. Mining activity at this site consisted of removing the historic dredge cobble and <br /> leveling the site without exposing the shallow groundwater near the Swan River, although no active mining is <br /> taking place at this time. Reclamation appears to be underway on at least a portion of the site, and all or a <br /> portion of the site may be reclaimed in association with a Swan River reconstruction/restoration project that is <br /> intended to rebuild the riparian habitat and river channel through the area and repair the damage done by <br /> historic dredge mining activity. Although the Division fully supports this habitat restoration, technical <br /> revisions to the reclamation plan may need to be submitted to the Division for approval to reflect in the <br /> permit any changes to the currently approved reclamation plan. In addition, even though no mining activity is <br /> currently taking place in the permit area,the permit boundary still needs to be clearly marked. <br /> No issues other than the lack of identifiable boundary markers were noted. The corrective action date set at <br /> this time for the resolution of all possible problems/violations noted is August 29, 2014. <br /> For future reference, the map submitted with the annual report should show the permit boundary, and have <br /> the name and permit number on it, in addition to any other required information. Maps submitted without <br /> this information may not be accepted in the future. <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br />
