Slope measurements were recorded in several locations to <br />because of the very steep faces on this refuse pile. A measurement of 58 %, 68 %, and 79% <br />recorded. It is important to note that even though this refuse pile exceeds the maximum <br />allowable slope of 2:1 (50 %), this coal refuse pile was constructed Pre -law SMCRA. Therefore, <br />the Federal regulations don't apply to this refuse pile unless the mining operations added <br />material after the permanent program was in place. A records check after the inspection was <br />conducted and no evidence of this was discovered. <br />Signs and Markers (Rule 4.02): <br />The mine identification sign at the entrance of the mine is intact and contained all necessary <br />information in accordance with 4.02.2. The disturbed area perimeter has been marked with fence <br />post in accordance with 4.02.3. <br />General Compliance: <br />All areas were clean and orderly at the time of inspection. No disturbance to areas outside of the <br />permit area was noted. No compliance issues were noted and no enforcement actions were taken <br />as a result of this inspection. <br />Maintenance items identified during_ inspection: <br />• Weed mitigation will need to be scheduled at the "New" refuse area. <br />• Maintenance should be performed at the outfall locations of Ponds #3 and #4. <br />
