June 26, 2014 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine ZTT <br /> <br /> <br />areas containing noxious weeds, outside of cheatgrass, were observed. Cheatgrass within the permit boundary has <br />been addressed by the Deserado Mine within the permit. Practices have been put in place for cheatgrass and are <br />currently in use by the mine. No issues were observed. <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> <br />Refuse was being placed on top of Refuse Pile 2/3/4 at the time of the inspection. Small stockpiles were placed <br />above the northern slope of the pile in preparation of being spread and compacted. Refuse was stacked along pile <br />5A during the winter months until weather allowed for proper compaction and refuse conditions. Refuse was being <br />actively spread and compacted along Refuse Pile 5A from the winter stockpile. Rills and gullies have formed <br />along the northern slope of Refuse Pile 2/3/4. <br /> <br />Refuse piles 2/3/4 and 5A were stable during the inspection. Piles are being constructed in a manner that allows <br />drainage to be directed to the perimeter ditches. No issues were observed. <br /> <br />Refuse pile 1 has been completed and reclaimed. Final certification of pile 1 was in 2011. Pile remains stable with <br />no issues. <br /> <br /> <br />Rills and gullies formed along RP-2/3/4. <br /> <br />ROADS Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) <br />Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) <br />Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) <br />Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> <br />Roads were stable and well maintained. No signs of fugitive dust were observed. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> <br />Vent shaft 10L was inspected. The shaft has been sealed and marked. The pad has temporarly been reconstructed <br />for a nitrogen plant that was used prior to the inspection.
