Jerry M. Nettleton
Page 7
June 11, 2014
4. Permit page 2.05 -9 discusses the Multiple Services Building at the Mine 5A portals. During 2010
and early 2011 MCM has removed oil tanks and barrels of waste oil and other products. Please
update the status and reclamation activities of the Multiple Services Building on permit page 2.05-
9.
a. MCM Response: The specific permit text description of the Multi- Services Building has
been reviewed and updated to reflect recent site activities. Copies of the revised Permit
discussion accompany these responses for replacement in the PAP.
b. DRMS Response: This item is resolved.
5. Permit page 2.05 -12 discusses the `Mine Water Handling System ", which pumps water from the No.
5 mine to the surface (for discharge through pond 5P -7 to the Williams Fork River). In late 2010 the
mine pump went down and was scheduled to be replaced late in the spring of 2011. The new pump
may change the pumping rate /volume from the Mine No. 5 workings. Please review the pumping
information contained in the "Mine Water Handling System" section, beginning on permit page
2.05 -12, to ensure that it provides the correct information for the newly installed pump.
a. MCM Response: The specific Permit text discussion relating to the No. 5 Mine Well has
been reviewed and revised, as appropriate, to reflect replacement of the well pump in
2011. It should be noted that the replacement pump was specified and ordered to have
the same capacity as the pump it replaced. Copies of the revised Permit discussion
accompany these responses for replacement in the PAP.
b. DRMS Response: This item is resolved.
6 Permit page 2.05 -15 has a table that provides a listing of all of the petroleum products stored on the
site. Given the recent reclamation at the site, particularly at the Multiple Services Building, the
information contained in this table is out of date. Please review the Petroleum Product Storage
table beginning on permit page 2.05 -15 and update it as necessary based on the recent reclamation
at the site.
a. MCM Response: The referenced table has been updated to reflect removal of essentially
all used petroleum products and other chemicals from the site. A copy of the revised
Permit table accompanies these responses for replacement in the PAP.
b. DRMS Response: This item is resolved.
7. Permit page 2.05 -16 has a section titled "Waste Disposal Sites ". This section contains information
regarding the current refuse pile at the Williams Fork Mines. The section discusses the "almost
complete" refuse pile at the No. 9 Mine site. This refuse pile was, however, reclaimed in 2009.
Please update permit page 2.05 -16 to reflect the current reclamation status of the refuse pile at the
No. 9 Mine site. Please include a comment verifying that the required four feet of cover was placed
on the pile (permit page 2.05 -29).
a. MCM Response: The Permit discussion of Mine waste disposal practices and facilities
has been reviewed and updated, as appropriate, to reflect reclamation of the refuse pile
area and current conditions. Copies of the revised Permit discussion accompany these
responses for replacement in the PAP.
