Compliance With Mine Plan <br />N - Support Facilities Not On -site <br />N - Other <br />N - Special Categories Of Mining <br />N - Processing Waste <br />R - Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This was a complete inspection of the Ohio Creek Mine 42 conducted by Brock Bowles of the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The permit was revoked and the reclamation bond was forfeited in 1995. Site <br />reclamation was completed by DRMS in 1996. In 2005, the DRMS observed excessive bare areas and the <br />revegetation had been overgrazed. DRMS interseeded the site in October 2006. A contractor was hired by DRMS <br />to repair the fence in 2011. Castleton Ranch, landowner, continues to maintian the fence, keep the gates closed <br />and spray weeds. <br />The weather was sunny, warm, a light westerly breeze and the ground was dry. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); <br />Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />The portal area appears to be stable. There were no signs of slumping or cracking and the area was well <br />vegetated (photo 1). <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.053; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />The sediment pond was dry. The embankment appeared to be stable and was well vegetated (photo 2). <br />Rills and gullies were not seen on the hillside by the portal or around the pond. <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />All gates into the mine site were closed upon arrival to the minesite. Cattle were not in the reclamation <br />area and there were no signs of grazing.
