The <br />Colowyo employee who participated in the field inspection was Kurtis Blunt. Tony Tennyson and Chip Brown <br />were involved in office portions of the inspection, including a check of the high wall mining operation and the <br />records check. The weather was mostly clear and warm. The ground was mostly dry although '/2 inch of rain fell <br />on the mine site on June 8th. <br />The West Pit was inspected from above. The high wall mining operation is in the approximate center of the pit (in <br />the east /west direction). Other than high wall mining operations, no activity was taking place. <br />The South Taylor Pit was also inspected from above. The highwall mining operations in South Taylor have been <br />completed for the G7 /G8 seams. The ADDCARR equipment will be moved back to South Taylor to mine higher <br />seams at a later date. Two drill rigs were on the F2 overburden. A loader /truck operation was moving D seam <br />overburden to the lower part of the pit (where the high wall miner recently concluded mining in the G7 /G8 seam). <br />EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE — Rule 4.09 <br />Placement; Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization: <br />The West Taylor Fill was viewed from above, and the Section 16 Fill was viewed from adjacent slopes. <br />No erosion or other problems were identified with either fill. <br />EXPLOSIVES — Rule 4.08 <br />Distance Prohibitions 4.08.4; Warnings 4.08.4; Control of Adverse Effects 4.08.4: <br />During the inspection, Kurtis Blunt replaced the blast monitoring devices after taking them to the office <br />for data downloading. The two sites were these are kept include the Ott residence east of the permit boundary <br />(along Highway 13) and an access gate along CR51 (along the west side of the permit boundary). The equipment <br />at both sites includes a seismograph to monitor ground vibration as well as an air blast monitor.
